Wine maker extraordinaire Klaus Peter Keller explains in this 1 minute YouTube video. (via the excellent Ask A Winemaker channel)
For us we like to think of it as a grape that produces electrifying wines. Not literally of course but in the sense that the naturally vivid acidity in Riesling awakens every taste bud, gets the saliva glands going and makes you feel positively charged. It’s a jolt to the palate that can readily be compared to the way Dr Frankenstein harnessed lightening to awaken The Monster.
It’s precisely because of the tingle of acidity that Riesling can achieve remarkably high ripeness levels and still give wines that are fresh and well balanced.
To really find out though you need to come in to Vagabond and try some Riesling!
